Protecting the Protesters

The Occupy Movement, which has sprung up in many cities in the United States, has been attacked by local and state law enforcement officers. It is time for President Barack Obama to step up and protect the citizens. The protesters peaceably assemble and voice their concerns. They have the right to take such action. There are no “time” limits to such actions.

When local law enforcement and public officials, fail to protect the rights of the citizens, it is the function of the federal government to protect the citizen’s rights.

An example of such action taken in the past was during the “Civil Rights Movement” of the 1950’s, especially; when desegregation of public schools began.

The President warned the governor not to defy the Supreme Court's ruling. When the governor ignored the warning, the president sent in the Army and federalized the Arkansas National Guard to protect the rights of the citizens.
